Community Organizations

CC Mellor Memorial Library

Since 1918, C.C. Mellor Memorial Library has been committed to “educate, entertain and enlighten” all members of our community from our historic building in Edgewood and our branch location in the Forest Hills borough building. They provide our diverse community with outstanding service, including programs for children, teens and adults; public access computers and Wi-Fi; digital resources accessible from anywhere; and more than 40,000 physical items in the library’s collection.

The Edgewood Foundation

Edgewood Scout Troop/Pack 23

Boy Scout Troop 23 Scouting (Troop 23) is open to boys ages 11 through 18. If you’re interested in learning more, please stop by one of our meetings. We meet Monday nights at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood.

Cub Scout Pack 23 Edgewood Cub Scout Pack 23 is always welcoming new members to join the fun! Meetings are Monday nights at 6:30 during the school year. Cub Scouts is open to boys and girls in Kindergarten through 5th Grade.

The Edgewood Symphony Orchestra

The Edgewood Symphony Orchestra, as we know it today, was formed in 1987 from the Wilkinsburg Civic Symphony, and is now one of the premier community symphonies. First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood

The life of Mission at First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood is very strong and stretches into many areas, including the Mission Ministry Team, Presbyterian Women, Deacons, and the good will of congregation members. You can visit the website of the Edgewood First Presbyterian Church.

Upstream Pittsburgh

Nine Mile Run is a small stream that flows through Pittsburgh’s East End, mostly underground. The 7 square mile Nine Mile Run watershed is home to the largest urban stream restoration in the United States, completed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2006. Today, UpstreamPgh’s work on this project continues the stream’s urban location causes challenges like excessive stormwater runoff, bank erosion, non-point source pollution, sewage overflows and more.

Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf

For more than a century, the oldest day school in the country devoted to teaching the deaf, the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf has been located in the heart of Edgewood.  WPSD is a non-profit, tuition-free school for deaf and hard-of hearing children from birth through 12th grade. WPSD, the largest comprehensive deaf education center in Pennsylvania, provides academic and extracurricular programs to over 300 children from 138 school districts and 53 counties statewide.
