Movie in the Park featuring ‘Shaolin Soccer’
On Friday, July 24 at Koenig Field, Edgewood Borough and Shaolin Studios present, ‘Shaolin Soccer (2001).’ This sports themed film is full of anime-like action and slapstick comedy. Please note that there is martial arts action violence, thematic elements, and some crude humor. The movie will start at dusk. Don’t forget to bring your blankets/chairs. All Koenig Field rules must be followed. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The Allegheny County Health Department will be treating six neighborhoods for mosquitoes after recent mosquito samples tested positive for West Nile Virus. The six areas include Edgewood, Garfield, Homewood, Point Breeze, Regent Square, and Wilkinsburg. Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing a phase change on South Braddock Avenue in Edgewood and Swissvale boroughs, Allegheny County has been implemented. To assist with the flow of traffic as part of the detour route for the Commercial Street Bridge closure and to allow crews to continue to work on the I-376 bridge overhead, South Braddock Avenue is now in the following traffic configuration around-the-clock through early August: • Southbound South Braddock Avenue has been reduced to a single-lane of traffic between Allenby Avenue and Monongahela Avenue. • Northbound South Braddock Avenue has two lanes of traffic between Monongahela Avenue and Allenby Avenue. Additionally, the off-ramp from westbound I-376 to Edgewood/Swissvale (Exit 77) is now in the following configuration through early August: • The left-hand lane at the end of the ramp will continue to allow traffic to turn left onto southbound South Braddock […]Youth Soccer Registration
This recreational league is open to boys and girls ages 4-12. Registration begins June 29 and ends August 7. Practices begin in late August/early September (dependent on coach availability). The cost for this sport is $70. VOLUNTEERS WANTED! Our leagues depend on our dedicated volunteers. We are always looking for parents or community members to help coach. You do not have to be an expert in soccer, and previous experience is not necessary. You just need to be able to be a role model and help guide teams through the season, provide basic instruction of the sport, and be ready to have fun! Clearances are required.
