Recycling and waste container placement and collection

1.    All recycling and must be placed at the curb.
2.    Recycling collections will be "every other week" on the same day as your waste collection. A calendar is provided.
3.    On your scheduled day of service, place your recycling and waste at the curb no later than 6:00 a.m. -- late set out will be noted and may not be picked up.
4.    Holidays -- the six major holidays may cause a "one day" delay in your collection.
5.    Waste should be in properly secured containers (60 lbs. or less) or plastic bags (35 lbs. or less).
6.    Hedge cuttings, limbs and branches should be securely tied and should not exceed 36" in length and not weigh no more than 40 lbs. Branches should not exceed 4" in diameter.
7.    Christmas trees will be collected in December, January and February.
8.    Bulky items/appliances will be accepted at curbside at no additional charge (limit of one bulk item per month). i. Carpet should be rolled and tied in lengths not to exceed 48". ii. Tires will not be collected. iii. Empty paint cans and/or dried paint is acceptable. Paint can be dried by air drying or soaking up with newspaper or kitty litter. Lids should be left off. iv. Items such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, water coolers, or any other appliance containing refrigerant will only be picked up if the item has a sticker certifying the refrigerant has been removed. If there is no sticker certifying removal, we will not pick up the item due to laws prohibiting disposal without certification the refrigerant has been removed. It is suggested that you have the company delivering the new appliance dispose of the old appliance to save on the removal cost of the refrigerant.
9.    All recyclable material should be empty, clean and dry. Please rinse all food and beverage containers completely prior to placing in the container (for example, no ketchup or mustard may be left in the bottles). I. Recyclable items include newsprint, paper, plastic food and beverage containers, aluminum cans, steel cans, cardboard and corrugated boxes. II. Non-recyclable items include drums, ashes, tires, batteries, car parts, medical waste, liquid waste of any kind, paint and contaminated (uncleaned) recyclables.

Edgewood Household Hazardous Waste
